Does the free plan really have unlimited patients?
Yes — the free plan is designed for trying the calculator and saving a small number of patients locally in your browser. It is useful for evaluation and lightweight use, but the data lives only on that device and browser. If you clear your browser cache or switch devices, you may lose local data unless you exported a backup. Pro adds cloud sync, restore safety, audit logs, and multi-device access.
What happens to my data when I upgrade?
Your existing local data is automatically uploaded to the cloud when you sign in for the first time. Nothing is lost. You can also continue to export encrypted backups at any time.
Do I need to enter a credit card for the trial?
Yes — Stripe requires a card to start a trial, but you won't be charged until day 15. You can cancel anytime before then with one click from the billing portal.
Is patient data HIPAA compliant?
Free tier: All data stays in your browser — nothing is ever transmitted to any server. Zero PHI exposure. This is the safest option for most U.S. clinicians and requires no HIPAA compliance action on your part.
Pro tier ($49/mo): Adds cloud sync via Google Firebase (Firestore), which is covered under Google's HIPAA BAA infrastructure. Important: Pro does not include a BAA between your practice and MyopiaTracker. U.S. practices with HIPAA obligations should use Enterprise. Patient data is pseudonymized (use initials or patient IDs). Note: a formal HIPAA BAA between your practice and MyopiaTracker is available on Enterprise plans only.

What is the AI Insights feature?
AI Insights uses Claude (Anthropic) to generate a structured clinical summary — intervention strategy, treatment evaluation, and parent talking points. It only runs when you explicitly trigger it using your own Anthropic API key. No patient data is passively sent to Anthropic. Your key is stored locally in your browser. AI outputs are structured summaries, not diagnostic conclusions.
Can parents use the family portal for free?
Yes — the family portal (the QR code link your clinician provides) is always free for parents. Clinicians on the Pro plan can generate QR codes to link parent accounts. The parent app has no subscription fee.
